Dear KAHOOT!-Less Colleague...

Dear Fellow Educator:

In regards to your question, “Should I use Kahoot! in my classroom?” I wanted to take a minute to discuss why I believe Kahoot! is a great classroom resource for all content areas. I have used Kahoot! in my middle school classroom for the last three years as a review tool. Students often become excited when they see that we have a Kahoot! coming up, as it tends to bring out their competitive edge. I also like to leave Kahoot! for a substitute teacher, because Kahoot! stores the data on my students, which allows me to go back and see what gaps my students have in their learning while I am gone. I have also been known to use other websites like Plickers and Quizizz as well, but Kahoot! is always the one I seem to come back to due to its ease of use. I recently saw a feature of Kahoot! where teachers can now assign Kahoot! as homework on Google Classroom. This would be very useful and engaging during this time of distance learning. All in all, it is up to you to decide what type of technology is best suited to your classroom, your curriculum, and your students, but if you are looking for an easy starting point, please consider giving Kahoot! a try.

Respectfully,

Sarah Greaves
